EXPERIENCING LEIPZiG
All of our researcher's voices
„My family and I chose to work and live in Leipzig because we knew that we would find good assistance here. The Welcome Center helped us quite a lot when we needed to arrange to rent two apartments in the University’s Guest House for my wife, our five children, and me. Furthermore, we were supported by my departmental colleagues with finding the right schools for my kids. To keep improving my German language skills I took part in a course at the Herder Institute (interDaf).“
Dr. Ryan Cordell (USA) , Post-Doc, Digital Humanities, Leipzig University
„For four months I am already at the Centre for Biotechnology and Biomedicine (BBZ) for my Post-Doctoral-Research. In the beginning I felt a little bit lost, but when I contact the Welcome Centre I got answers for my questions and I think they are really into helping. Here I live at the Guesthouse where I get good advices from other international guest scientists who stayed already longer in Germany.“
Dr. Sandra Carolina Firacative Romera (Columbia) , Post-Doc, Biology, Centre for Biotechnology and Biomedicine (BBZ)
My research period in Leipzig was completely promising and beneficial. Not only the historic and peaceful environment of the city but also the motivating sphere of the university, helped me to be really productive. The libraries were rich and the prominent faculty lecturers never declined my request for help. I would certainly visit again if I had a chance!
Gülçin Gürel (Turkey), Economic Science Department of the University of Applied Sciences Leipzig, summer term 2016
We extended our stay in Leipzig to 15 months. After six months of living here, we have found Leipzig to be a warm and interesting city, vibrant with local history and culture. Coming from India, it is a chance to learn about Germany and share our experience about the multi cultural ethos both in India and in Leipzig.
Prof. Sushil Khanna and his wife Rajashri Dasgupta (India) , Leipzig Graduate School of Management / Journalist
In September 2014, I arrived Leipzig with my wife and my 1-years-old daughter. We found this is such a beautiful small city. We particularly thank Mrs. Annemone Fabricius and Mr. Brian Borgwardt. They really help me a lot since my arrival. The IBZ guesthouse is really good choice if you want to live in Leipzig. It is very safe and clean. And we can make friends with many guests from different countries. Thanks all kind German people!!! Thanks Leipzig!!!
Dr. Chang Yang (China), Post-Doc, Physics, Leipzig University
Sometimes one has to leave one’s country to find a true home. That is what I have experienced here in Leipzig despite being foreign. The amazing helpfulness, not only of the University’s Welcome and International Centres, but also of every unknown person in the street whom I have asked for help, sometimes even at night, has made me feel secure and grateful.
Dr. Pieter van der Zwan (South Africa), Post-Doc, Theology, Leipzig University
