The 36th edition of the European Dance and Theatre Festival will feature around twelve productions from across Europe and its global connections. The programme highlights contemporary theatre and innovative dance, as well as the latest forms of performance art. A particular focus is on in-house and co-productions, as well as German premieres and world premieres that reflect current developments in European performing arts.

City History Day 2026

The event series explores Leipzig’s urban history from both academic and public perspectives, linking historical developments to contemporary issues. A key focus is on the history of the Jewish community in Leipzig, including overlooked periods such as the postwar years and the GDR era.

European Music Festival 2026

The European Music Trails celebrate Leipzig’s rich musical heritage and its connections to European music culture. This year’s festival focuses – as part of Tacheles 2026 – on Leipzig’s Jewish musical heritage, past and present, exploring Jewish music along the Via Regia in collaboration with partners from across Europe.
