As part of Germany’s nationwide Open Monument Day, Leipzig opens the doors to numerous historic buildings and sites that are usually inaccessible to the public. Under the 2026 theme “Networks: Monuments and Infrastructure”, visitors can discover the city’s architectural heritage through a diverse programme of guided tours, special exhibitions and behind-the-scenes events.

Festival Gutes Leben Leipzig

From 12 to 20 September 2026, Leipzig celebrates the Gutes Leben Leipzig festival, a week dedicated to exploring what makes a city a great place to live. Streets, neighbourhoods and public spaces come alive with guided walks, interactive workshops, inspiring talks, creative activities and community events. The festival brings together local initiatives, residents and visitors to showcase innovative ideas, encourage meaningful exchanges and celebrate the many ways people are shaping a more sustainable, inclusive and enjoyable future for the city.

Leipzig Market Square

The Leipzig Market Days invite you to take a stroll through the city at the beginning of fall. Over 100 traders will offer their products for sale and there will also be food and drinks available. Various performers will provide entertainment during the market days. Come along and see what is on offer to celebrate the start of Fall season.
