March in Leipzig is characterized by reading. The Leipzig Book Fair and its reading festival “Leipzig reads” are the spring events of the book and media sector. Authors, readers and publishing companies meet to engage in exchange and discover what is new.
Especially the unique combination of book fair and reading festival makes the book fair an exciting and varied experience for young and old. The motto is: Diving into the fascinating world of literature and discovering exciting new publications, authors, programs and publishing companies.
“Common Ground” is the motto under which all the countries of South-Eastern Europe will be presenting their literature and their authors* together at the Leipzig Book Fair for the first time from 2020. As different as the countries, their peoples, languages, religions and histories may be – as the Leipzig Book Fair’s focal region 2020-22, “Common Ground – Literature from South-East Europe” aims to focus on what unites them.
The fair is open every day for the general public and professional visitors, Sunday is family day.
