The Panometer Leipzig is an exhibition building in Leipzig in which Yadegar Asisi has been presenting a monumental panorama picture combined with an accompanying exhibition since 2003. Since the building used to be a gasometer, Asisi created the word panometer from panorama and gasometer.
Each exhibition consists of a 32-metre-high round picture, the accompanying thematic exhibition and making-of films. The theme of the current exhibition is ‘Carola’s Garden – A return to paradise’ and takes visitors into a colourful world full of plants and animals. The visitor “shrinks” to the size of a flower pollen in the round picture and discovers the fascinating scenery within a domestic garden in an unprecedented enlargement.
