Leipzig’s municipal libraries are currently closed to visitors due to the Corona pandemic. However, they continue to be active for all citizens of Leipzig – and offer them temporary free access to their online services, even if they are not yet library users.

Registration Free access

This requires a written registration by e-mail at stadtbib@leipzig.de. The offer is initially valid until 3 May 2020.

Anyone wishing to have access must provide their full name, their Leipzig address and date of birth. After the request has been processed, you will receive notification by e-mail that your access has been activated. After the closing time the user data will be deleted. Those who wish to continue using the municipal libraries will then pay the user fee in accordance with the fee statutes.

Free online offers

The following online offers can be used free of charge until the end of closing time: streaming films with filmfriend, access to around 28,000 e-media, the Scoyo learning platform for children, press readers with national and international press. In addition, there is the Linkedin Learning Platform with video courses and the Tigerbook app with over 2500 interactive picture books.
